It's a pleasure when someone points out the complex history that underlies something as prosaic, if pleasant, as a mixed drink.
The history and culture of drink has since appealed to me because of your lecture on why we as Ontarians, cannot buy beer at the local corner store. I think this would be an interesting post to share with your students when presenting your lecture again this year.
